It is now 8 years since the Martinů Quartet last visited us from Prague, and it is a particular pleasure to welcome them back when they are celebrating their 50th anniversary. Luboš (the founder of the quartet) and Jitka are now joined by the youthful intensity of Adéla and Martin for what promises to be an exciting performance of Czech and French quartets.

For almost two decades, the Martinů Quartet has taken time out of its busy concert and recording schedules to run chamber music courses known as 'PLAYWIP' (Play with professionals) in which participating amateurs (including your chairman) are joined by a member of the quartet – a particularly enjoyable and effective form of coaching.
